beauty

I’m probably the last person on the planet (with broadband access that is!) to have seen Susan Boyle and Paul Potts of Britain’s Got Talent. But I just saw the videos and got all teary. Partly because of the stories and partly because the music they sang was just so beautiful (I’m a sucker for Les Miserables). Read an interesting article here about them too.

extreme personality

I just got done watching the pilot of United States of Tara. A new Showtime series about a woman with dissociative identity disorder, where different personalities emerge under times of stress. The identities that emerge seemed to be extremes of her personality and I kept wondering what my different identities would look like! … Corporate tycoon, granola gardener, bad-ass…

I won’t describe much more as discovering the identities are part of the fun of the pilot. If you’ve got Netflix, you can watch it instantly here or it can be found through Hulu too.

free “holiday hits”

I was watching Oprah today (while I was ellipticalling, thank you very much) and learned that from her website you can download 8 Christmas songs for free for the next 48 hours (starting when, I don’t know, so do it now!). Artists include Faith Hill, Amy Grant, Aretha Franklin, and Tony Bennet. Download the songs here.

word of the year

The term hypermiling is now commonplace in our household. Who new it would be in so many others as well!

universal language

Jeannie pointed me to “Where the Hell is Matt?” Loved it! Be sure to read the About page. My favorite part:

Matt doesn’t mind working, but he doesn’t much care for having to show up at the same place every day.

I can relate!
